Interesting perspective Zat. You suggest that novelty should be prioritized. What if prioritizing novelty would negate creative expression? And How do we encourage novelty in the age of information overload? If an online platform like Facebook decides to eliminate all forms of expression that do not contribute to knowledge (hypothetically), would this be a form of violence? And are we violent or perhaps unfair if we think along the same lines, that anyone who reproduce existing information without adding an element of novelty is somehow unworthy of the freedom to express? Many people may not be concerned with novelty as much as having the freedom to express themselves however they wish. Why would individual expression be any less important than producing new knowledge? I would like to emphasize that I don’t include mass media, corporations, and such in my definition of expression, as that entails a different kind of expression.
